NC Association of Defense Attorneys annual meeting

The NC Association of Defense Attorneys held their 30th annual meeting May 30 – June 3, 2007. The WFU Law alumni breakfast was held on Saturday, June 2nd and was hosted by Richard Bennett ’68, JD ’74, Steve Coles ’77, JD ’80, Don Cowan ’65, JD ’68, Nick Ellis JD ’86, Mel Garofalo JD ’78, Ken Kyre JD ’77, and Clark Smith ’72, JD ’75.

North Carolina Annual Bar Association Meeting

The North Carolina Bar Association held its annual meeting in Asheville at the Grove Park Inn June 21 – 24, 2007. Over 100 WFU Law alumni attended a reception hosted by Poyner and Spruill on Friday night.

New York law alumni gather at University Club

Alumni from the New York/New Jersey area met at the University Club on May 24 for a reception with Dean Bob Walsh.  The event was hosted by Eric A. Boden (JD ’06), David L. Mathus (JD ’84) and Christopher A. Service (JD ’06).

Supreme Court admissions event draws chief justice

Chief Justice John Roberts attended a reception for Wake Forest alumni and their families who had just been admitted to the Supreme Court Bar. The Admissions Ceremony was held on Monday, May 14.  More than 25 alumni took the oath that morning.

Philidelphia law alumni gather as the Vesper Club

Alumni from the Philadelphia area met at the Vesper Club on June 5th for a reception with Dean Bob Walsh.  The event was hosted by Curt P. Cheyney (JD ‘68), Dan A. Monaco (JD ‘81) and Barbara L. Young (‘84, JD ‘87).

Alumni named to lead law board and council

The Law Board of Visitors elected new officers at a recent board meeting.  Larry Sitton (’61, JD’64), of Smith Moore LLP in Greensboro, will be the new chairman for a two- year term beginning July 1, 2007.  Judy Lambeth (JD ’77), General Counsel of Reynolds American, was elected as vice-chair. WFU School of law – 3L declares success

Third year law students wrapped up the 3L fundraising campaign on March 30th after raising over $7,700 for the Law Fund. Students surpassed their goal of increasing participation to 85% over last year’s participation of 77%. Clara Cottrell (JD ’07) and John Mitchell (JD ’07) served as the committee co-chairs and led a committee of 18 people who successfully encouraged their peers to support the Law Fund.
