2022 Law Alumni Weekend

Alumni Events

The Law Alumni Engagement and Development team is hitting the road! In-person Law alumni receptions are coming to a city near you! All invitations will be sent via email based on geographic location, so make sure your information is up-to-date with our office. You can do that HERE.  More events are being planned so check back here often. If you’d like to host an event (in-person or virtual) for your city or for an affinity/identity group, please contact Megan Ratley at ratleyml@wfu.edu.

Location: Carolina Yacht Club

November 2022

Conversation and Book Signing with Author Corban Addison of Wastelands: The True Story of Farm Country on Trial
November 9 | 6:15 p.m. (ET)
Location: Worrell Professional Center Room 1312 (Winston-Salem, NC)
Program: Panel Discussion, Reception & Book Signing

Imagine your ancestral home suddenly being sprayed with hog manure that gets on your clothes, kitchen countertops, and eating utensils. Imagine a multibillion dollar corporation creating similar situations across predominantly Black and Hispanic counties in eastern North Carolina under the protection of the North Carolina legislature. Imagine after years of frustration and futility, an impassioned cadre of local residents, led by a team of intrepid and dedicated Wake Forest-trained lawyers, files lawsuits against one of the world’s most powerful companies—and, miraculously, they win.

Join us for a discussion with Corban Addison, author of Wastelands, and Mona Wallace (JD ’79, P ’08), lead plaintiffs’ attorney in the lawsuits that brought the concentrated animal feeding industry to heel. This discussion is co-sponsored by Yadkin Riverkeeper.

If you would like to plan a virtual or in-person event in your area, please contact Megan Ratley, Director for Law Alumni Engagement, at ratleyml@wfu.edu or 336-758-3478.
